A native of Wilkes-Barre, Larry Cohen joined Benco Dental in 1959 when the organization served a handful of dentists in and around Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. Over the next three decades, Larry grew Benco into one of the largest dental distributors in the United States, with operations from Maine to Virginia to Ohio, and sales of more than $100 million. In his time as president, he pioneered many innovations that are now considered commonplace in the industry: a stand-alone design team to provide space planning services for dentists, a separate sales team focused on large equipment, and merchandise ordering via fax. More importantly, the organization never lost its family-owned, customer-focused culture.

Since the mid-1990s, Larry has worked closely with his sons Chuck and Rick (who were named Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneurs of the Year in 2002) to build Benco into the nation’s largest family-owned dental distributor, serving thousands of dentists from coast to coast. Currently, Larry serves as Benco’s Chief Customer Advocate, focused on ensuring that customer issues are resolved promptly.

Recently, Larry has become a respected philanthropist, with significant donations to Wilkes University (where he graduated college, and later served on the Board of Trustees) and other local institutions. He’s served on the boards of many industry organizations and local charities.

He and his wife Sally spend winters in Florida. They are proud parents to Chuck and his wife Rebecca, and Rick, as well as proud grandparents of Benjamin (19) and Leah (14).

Charles Cohen is managing director and third-generation owner of Benco Dental Company, the nation’s largest independently owned dental distributor, and Clarion Financial, a sister company offering financing to dentists. Founded in 1930 by Benjamin Cohen, Benco serves over 25,000 dental offices and dental laboratories across the United States. The company is based in Northeastern Pennsylvania with locations in 40 states.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Charles joined Benco as a territory representative in 1989. After taking on management roles in the company’s sales and marketing department, he assumed a senior leadership role in 1997.

Charles and his wife Rebecca live in Allentown with their son Benjamin & daughter Leah.

Richard Cohen is Managing Director and third-generation owner of Benco Dental Company, the nation’s largest independently owned dental supply and equipment distributor, and its sister company Clarion Financial, one of the largest dental financing companies in America.

He earned his B.S. in Information Systems from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and prior to joining his family’s business, he dedicated his efforts as an IT consultant at Andersen Consulting, now Accenture.

Richard has three patents, currently owned by Intellectual Ventures, Microsoft’s intellectual property company. He is Co-Chair of the Benco Family Foundation, a trustee of WVIA public television and public radio, and a Director of the Dental Trade Alliance and Dental Trade Alliance Foundation.

Terry Barrett joined Benco Dental in 2008 as VP of Information Technology and moved into his current role mid-2017.   As VP of Marketing and Supply Chain he is responsible for creating and communicating value for customers, vendors and associates. Terry leads Supply Chain, Marketing Analytics, Branding and Communications, and Product Management teams.

Prior to joining the Benco family, Terry spent 11 years at BEA Systems (San Jose, CA) in senior leadership positions, including VP of Engineering, VP of Worldwide Customer Support, VP of Worldwide Education, and VP of Customer Advocacy. In those roles, he helped propel BEA Systems from startup status to a company producing annual revenue of $1.4B. Terry also honed his expertise in various management roles at InQuira, Bell Communications Research, Novell and GTE.

Terry earned a BS degree in Computer Science from The University of Scranton, in Scranton, PA, and a Master’s in Computer Science from Arizona State University. He completed several graduate level courses in Business Administration at Pennsylvania State University.

Mike joined Benco Dental in 2011 and as Vice President of Information Technology is responsible for leading the company’s technology strategy and managing overall IT operations, including application development, infrastructure, data integrity and technical support.  During his tenure at Benco, Mike has served as the Director of Application Development, and Director of Sales Operations.  

Prior to joining the Benco family, Mike spent 12 years leading software development for GUARD Insurance Companies, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary.  Mike holds a BS degree in Computer Science from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA and earned his MBA with a specialization in Management Information Systems from the University of Scranton.

Benco Dental CFO Karen Kuklewicz joined the family-owned organization as a staff accountant in 1999, shortly after her graduation from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA. While at Benco Dental, Karen earned her MBA from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 2011, and the Certified Management Accountant designation from the Institute of Management Accountants.

In January 2015, Karen assumed the Interim CFO role at Benco Dental and helped steer the company through a most successful year, including the completion of several key projects. Officially promoted into the CFO role one year later, her responsibilities include the oversight of business units, as well as direct responsibility for Finance, including such areas as Accounting & Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Internal Audit, Risk Management and Taxation. During her tenure at Benco, Karen has served as Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, and Director of Finance.

Lou Mangino, Vice-President Operations, joined Benco in 2000 as Director of Operations. His first task: Co-leading the successful implementation of a new operating system. He has the responsibility for the call center and service dispatch teams, the warehouse teams, equipment logistics, inventory control and the CenterPoint facility. He was also responsible for modeling and developing Benco’s five distribution sites in order for Benco to become a nationwide presence.

Lou earned his B.S. degrees from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre PA. Prior to joining Benco, Lou was the Director of Distribution for Aventis-Pasteur, a division of Sanofi-Aventis – the world’s largest manufacturer of vaccines (formerly Connaught Laboratories) in Swiftwater PA and worked for that organization over 13 years. Lou began his career at Wellcome Animal Health as a branch manager, where he worked for 6 years. He is a member of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW),  Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Health and Personal Care Distribution Conference.

George Rable, Vice President, Culture & People, joined Benco Dental in 1997, originally serving as the Director of Human Resources. He leads the overall Human Resources functions, including recruitment, talent management, culture, associate engagement, associate relations, compensation & benefits, learning & development, continuous improvement and safety.

Prior to his time at Benco, George served in Human Resources/Leadership roles with Wayne Memorial Hospital (Honesdale, PA), Geisinger Medical Center (Danville, PA) and ServiceMaster Industries (Philadelphia, PA).

George earned BS/BA Degrees in Social Work/Criminal Justice at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1982. He earned a Master of Public Administration (concentration in Health Services) degree from Marywood University, Scranton, PA in 1984. He attained Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) status in 1996 and Senior Certified Professional status (SHRM-SCP) in 2015 from the Society for Human Resource Management.

In addition to his work at Benco, George serves on the Board of Directors for Maternal & Family Health Services, Step By Step and Luzerne County Head Start.

Kari Taylor joined Benco in January 2016 as Vice President of Sales and Branch Operations, responsible for executing Benco’s growth strategies and delivering a best-in-class customer experience through the company’s branch network of sales and service associates.

Prior to joining Benco, Kari was at W.W. Grainger, Inc. as Vice President of Territory Sales for the U.S. business. Before Grainger, Kari held a number of leadership roles at Office Depot, including Vice President of Sales Operations, Pricing and Strategy, as well as key positions of responsibility in Global Accounts, Group Purchasing and Healthcare. She also has held global leadership roles at Sun Microsystems, TLM and founded Extrapolate, a sales and marketing agency.

Taylor is an alumna of California State University, Hayward and earned her MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA, with an emphasis in International Marketing and Sales Leadership. She has continued her executive leadership education at Universidad de Navarra, IESE Business School – Barcelona, Spain as well as at Florida Atlantic University.

Julie Radzyminski spent 19 years at Procter & Gamble in a variety of roles before coming to Benco Dental as its first Director of Business Innovation in 2012. While in the Professional Oral Health division at Procter & Gamble, she had responsibility for over $350 million in sales, and spearheaded the company’s return to distribution. At Benco Dental, Julie has helped shape key initiatives, like The Lucy Hobbs Project™, which empowers women in dentistry to drive change and deliver success through networking, innovation and giving back, OneVisit™ – the company’s same-day dentistry solution, as well as office supplies, and implants, and she oversees alliances with key organizations like Cain Watters, Seattle Study Club, Practice Transitions and Dental Coaching.

A graduate of Boston College with a BS in Marketing, Julie and her husband Dave live in Albany, New York, with their two high school-age daughters. She travels weekly to CenterPoint East, Benco Dental’s Home Office in Pittston, Pennsylvania.
