Larry Cohen

CHIEF CUSTOMER ADVOCATE

Larry Cohen graduated from Wilkes College with a B.S. in Accounting in 1957 and Columbia University Graduate School of Business, earning an M.S. in Management and Finance, 1958. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve from 1958 through 1964.

He is the second-generation owner of Benco Dental Company, which was founded by his father, Benjamin Cohen in 1930.

Joining Benco Dental in 1959 as manager of the Tooth Department, in 1960, Larry became an outside sales rep, a position he enjoyed full time until 1972. Beginning that year, Larry began reducing his outside sales role and increasing his managerial duties, later becoming the president of Benco Dental from 1965 – 1996.

Larry is the Founder of the American Dental Cooperative; Board, American Dental Trade Associate, plus Various ADTA committees. He sits on the Board of Wilkes University, Board of Visiting Nurses Association and the Board of Jewish Community Center.

Chuck Cohen

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Chuck Cohen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 with a degree in English, and joined Benco as a territory representative soon after graduation. He’s taken on increasing responsibilities in the sales and marketing areas, becoming Managing Director in 1996. He serves on a variety of industry and community boards, including Wilkes University, the Dental Lifeline Network, and Jewish Community Alliance of Wilkes-Barre.

Rick Cohen

MANAGING DIRECTOR

After three years as an IT consultant at Accenture, Rick Cohen joined Benco in 1994 to create Painless, the industry’s first windows-based e-commerce software. Since then, he’s taken on increasing responsibilities within Benco, focusing on Information Technology, Logistics, Clarion Financial, and our private brand. He is Co-Chair of the Benco Family Foundation, a trustee of WVIA public television and public radio, and a Director of the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation.

Mike Burns

CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Mike Burns joined Benco Dental in 2011 and as Chief Information Officer is responsible for leading the company’s technology strategy and managing overall IT operations, including application development, infrastructure, data integrity and technical support.

During his tenure at Benco, Mike has served as the Director of Application Development, and Director of Sales Operations.

Katy Cohen

CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER

Most recently, Katy Cohen led sales efforts as Vice President with McKesson Corporation, one of the world’s largest medical supply distribution companies, overseeing the Ambulatory Surgery and Community Health sectors. Her extensive sales and coaching experience with other Fortune 500 companies include roles with healthcare logistics authority Owens & Minor, and a medical device division of Johnson & Johnson. Cohen began her sales journey at SMED international, a modular interior and furniture company after earning a B.S. degree in Marketing from Longwood University, Virginia.

Karen Friar

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Karen Friar joined the family-owned organization as a staff accountant in 1999, shortly after her graduation from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA. While at Benco Dental, Karen earned her MBA from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 2011, and the Certified Management Accountant designation from the Institute of Management Accountants.

George Rable

CHIEF CULTURE & PEOPLE OFFICER

George Rable earned BS/BA Degrees in Social Work/Criminal Justice at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1982. He earned a Master of Public Administration (concentration in Health Services) degree from Marywood University, Scranton, PA in 1984. He attained Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) status in 1996 and Senior Certified Professional status (SHRM-SCP) in 2015 from the Society for Human Resource Management.

Beth Hastie

CHIEF LOGISTICS OFFICER

Beth Hastie joined Benco Dental in 2018 and leads our overall operations and logistics strategy, overseeing transportation, distribution, inventory control and customer operations. Previously, she was Director of Distribution and VP of Operations. Beth has over 17 years of experience in distribution and e-commerce fulfillment, including serving as VP of Distribution for Lord & Taylor and Divisional VP, Distribution with Saks Fifth Avenue. She holds a BS in Marketing from King’s College, an MBA from the University of Scranton, and earned her Green Belt certificate in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University. Beth was recently honored as one of the Top 25 Women in Business by the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal.
