The nation’s largest privately owned dental distributor recently received a certification for its environmental responsibility from IGS Energy, acknowledging that the company’s CenterPoint East home office will run on 100 percent renewable energy from May 2018 through April 2021.
Benco Dental’s CenterPoint East location at 295 CenterPoint Boulevard, Pittston, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, uses more than 2,000,000 kW hours each year and relies on energy produced by wind turbines in Texas, where rotating blades harness the wind’s kinetic energy. Today, wind turbines provide electricity all over the world, according to IGS Energy, through this renewable resource that is both efficient and environmentally friendly.

Our CenterPoint East home office is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified, meeting some of the highest standards set forth by the United States Green Building Council,” said Chuck Cohen, Benco Dental Managing Director.

- More than 30 percent of furnishings at CenterPoint East have been reused from Benco’s previous locations, while most new furnishings contain more than 30 percent recycled content.
- Benco implements an extensive recycling program that includes paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum, CDs, DVDs and toner cartridges.
- Warehouse overhead lights use motion sensors.
- Many of Benco’s nationwide distribution and office facilities employ energy-efficient lighting and low-water usage fixtures.
- In other efforts, Benco’s 300+ service technicians are guided by a scheduling software that promotes efficiency.
