On Friday the 5th of June in 2015, Benco Dental hosted day two of The Lucy Hobbs Project 3rd Annual Celebration at the Camden Yards Marriott in Baltimore. It was the biggest celebration for women in dentistry of this Spring. Who knew one celebration could host some many hardworking mentors and leaders in the North American Dentist industry. Benco Dental is a one stop shop for everything full-service distributor of dental supplies, dental equipment sales & service, equipment repair, financing, office design, peer-to-peer learning, practice coaching, real estate consulting, recruitment, and dental-specific technology solutions. Not to mention the fact that those services are maintained by more than 400 professionally trained sales representatives and 290 factory-trained service technicians.
Did you know? The Lucy Hobbs Project empowers women in dentistry to drive change and deliver success through innovation, giving back and networking.
The celebration took place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The day of events begin by celebrating the stories of six extraordinary women who have impacted the field of American dentistry in a professional and personal manner. Benco Dental rep Julie Radzyminski gave the welcome address. Dr. Desiree Walker aka “Ninja Dentist” known for her contestant role on NBC’s TV show, American Ninja Warrior gave an awesome talk on overcoming fear. Desiree talked about how she went from tired and unhealthy to empowered and healthy. Dr. Walker attributed her success to a healthy diet and lots of physical exercise. Did you know? Dr. Walker incorporates physical fitness in her practice for her patients.
Next, attendees enjoyed a leadership skill set enhancement presentation by Motivational Speaker Dave Weber. Weber’s presentation entailed overcoming barriers, challenges and obstacles in leadership. Such a master storyteller! You had to be there and he is such a great guy he gave the whole audience a personalized autographed copy of his new book.
One of my coolest parts of the event was when Benco Dental presented Dress for Success Baltimore with a monetary check donation. Did you know? Attendees donated clothing as part of the attendance requirement for the The Lucy Hobbs Project 3rd Annual Celebration.
Then, attendees enjoyed a healthy buffet lunch. After lunch, Carey Lohrez the 1st female F-14 Tomcat pilot for the US Navy shared her professional and personal experience on leadership and overcoming fear from her extraordinary life. Her presentation was so inspirational; meeting a real G.I. Jane was so cool. I came home and pulled out my old VHS tapes for the movies Top Gun and An Officer and a Gentleman. I remember when those movies inspired so many movie goers to soar high.
Overcoming fears seem to be the major speaking theme of the celebration. You should know The Lucy Hobbs Project 3rd Annual Celebration was one of the most beautiful events, I have ever attended grace and elegance was all over the room.
