Every dental professional, at some point in his or her career, glares up the mountain that is starting or upgrading a practice. And he or she does so with dreams of someday reaching the summit. But what does the trek entail? New equipment? Creative office and interior design? Digital imaging? High-tech networks? Reliable small equipment? Training and education? The answer is all of the above.

CenterPoint
“In planning CenterPoint, we tried to look at things from the perspective of the customer,” Benco Dental President Charles Cohen says. “We know that dental professionals are investing a lot into a new practice—and we don’t mean financially. A quality facility has a profound impact on the culture and success of a dental practice.”

Forward Thinking. Positive Results. In the past, achieving all the goals that coincide with opening or upgrading a practice meant spanning the country, racking up airline miles to experience options from all the major manufacturers. It was a process in which Benco Dental noticed some glaring flaws. It got everyone at the country’s fastest-growing full-service dental supply company thinking of ways to improve the customer experience.

A quality facility has a profound impact on the culture and success of a dental practice.”

With such a philosophy in mind, Benco Dental began to assemble a spectacle unlike anything the dental industry had ever seen. Years of planning, construction and installation yielded a showroom with 25 operatories and 14 digital X-ray units, a high-tech education center, a warehouse with two miles of intelligent conveyor and an upgraded facility built to the highest environmentally friendly standards. Benco Dental had created one place for dental professionals to simultaneously experience all the options for dental equipment, office design, technology solutions and continuing education, making only one name the logical choice for Benco Dental’s new facility…CenterPoint

More Than Just Equipment. CenterPoint is all about choice: choice in equipment, choice in technology, choice in interior and office design. Benco Dental has long offered dentists more equipment options than any national dental company. And now, as part of an industry-first experience, CenterPoint places every major equipment line side by side under one roof. CenterPoint encompasses options and solutions for every style and price point along with experienced, knowledgeable sales representatives to help formulate custom solutions tailored to specific, individual needs—it’s an experience of which dentists are already taking notice.

“You would think something like this would only be possible from individual manufacturers,” Dr. Gary Hughes, a general dentist from Kingston, Pennsylvania says. “But to have it at a supply company is very impressive. What’s even more impressive though, is having all the different options in one place. Normally, you would have to travel to A-dec and Pelton and all the others to experience such choice.”

Dr. Hughes was one of the first dentists to visit CenterPoint. He, along with his Friendly Benco Rep Al Schulte and Equipment Specialist Kevin Swicklik, toured Benco Dental’s new headquarters, Northeast distribution center and showroom in March 2010. While Dr. Hughes came to explore his options for construction and new equipment, he was left in awe by practically every aspect of CenterPoint. “I had heard a lot about CenterPoint before visiting, but it was even more remarkable than I had imagined,” he recalls. “The showroom was the main purpose for the visit, but the warehouse was extraordinary as well. The technology was really amazing.”

Benco Dental’s new CenterPoint warehouse utilizes “intelligent” conveyor to efficiently and accurately assemble and ship orders. Barcode-guided orders travel throughout two miles of conveyor, only stopping in areas with product needed for that particular order. Each order is checked by hand and weighed to ensure total accuracy before being loaded up and shipped out. “I was just very impressed by the way the facility was constructed and laid out,” Dr. Hughes remarks. “You can tell that a lot of thinking went into every detail. It’s one of those things where it’s undeniably evident that they did it perfectly.”

It’s All About the Details. The type of choice Benco Dental envisions for its customers would not be possible without giving special attention to every detail of CenterPoint. Beyond a state-of-the-art warehouse and 25-operatory showroom, CenterPoint addresses every need of a modern dental office. Regardless of whether it’s dental networks and technology in the BencoNET suite, testing high- and low-speed air-driven and electric handpieces in the handpiece cutting station or even attending a continuing education class in the Summit Training and Education Center, CenterPoint has something for every aspect of a new practice or redesign.

“I was amazed with how many different manufacturers offer variations of similar products,” Dr. Hughes says. “Normally, to see all this, you’re looking in a brochure or traveling to a meeting. But now, it’s nice to plan a new office and have all the resources in one place.”

X-Ray SuiteLike Dr. Hughes, dental professionals from across the country are welcome to come view all the options for every aspect of their practice. From laboratories to orthodontists to oral surgeons, CenterPoint even has specific exhibits tailored to the unique demands of specialty practices.

“CenterPoint shows that Benco Dental is a true partner in helping dentists grow their practice,” Benco Equipment Specialist Rich Serafin says. Serafin also welcomed a customer to CenterPoint in March and is proud to report even more positive results. “Everything is right there: all the equipment, options, colors, design, etc. I don’t just answer a doctor’s question anymore; I can demonstrate the answer.”

Redefining the Customer Experience. “This showroom gives you the new equipment, but how it’s laid out and the creative wall treatments and floor coverings, those are the things you don’t see every day.” Dr. Hughes, who also comments on the “night and day” difference from Benco’s past facility, is anxious to visit CenterPoint again to complete his office upgrade with all the options in front of him—and he’s not the only one.

“The first customer I had visit the showroom wanted to schedule another visit before he left the building—and he wasn’t even a local doctor,” Serafin says. “I think that says a lot. He sees the value in what we did here at CenterPoint.”

The true value at CenterPoint is a variable that can’t be quantified. Choice has no statistic, but the results dental professionals experience after visiting CenterPoint will tell the entire story.
